■ ネパールカレー屋さんで突然の声かけ
私はカレーが大好きで、よくお店にも行きます。特にバングラデシュカレーが宇宙一美味しいと思っていて、なんならスパイスから自分で作るほど。…この話はまた別の機会に書きます（笑）
さて、ある日（バングラデシュ好きと言っておきながら）、ネパールのカレー屋さんに立ち寄ったときのこと。同僚と一緒に、外国人材の在留資格や受け入れ制度について話していたところ、店員のネパール人の方から突然話しかけられました。
「行政書士の方ですか？外国人の仕事されてますよね？実は、すごく信頼できる送り出し機関の方がいるので、ぜひご紹介したいです」
まさかの展開（笑）。その場で連絡先を交換し、数日後には紹介された送り出し機関の方とオンラインで面談することに。
■ Zoomの画面越しに「ん？見たことある…？」
迎えたミーティング当日。
自己紹介を交わしながら話していたのですが、私は画面越しに見える相手の雰囲気に、なんとも言えない懐かしさを感じていました。
「あれ？この人、どこかで会ったことがあるような…」
数分後、ハッと思い出しました。
「……あっ！もしかして、20年前にやり取りしてた、あの方じゃないか！？」
当時、私は外国船関連の業務の中で、港の近くの商業施設の関係者とやり取りをしていました。その施設の窓口にいた外国人の方──まさに目の前のこの方だったのです。

ミーティングが終わった後、私は嬉しさがこみ上げて、思わずLINEでこんなメッセージを送りました。
「今日は本当にありがとうございました！
画面を見ていて途中で“もしかして…”と思ったのですが、本当に驚きました。
もう懐かしすぎて、ちょっと感動してしまいました…。
まさか20年近く経って、こうしてまたつながれるとは…ご縁ってすごいですね。
ぜひ何かご一緒したいと思いました！」

「本日はお時間いただきありがとうございました。
お話しながら“あれ？”と思っていたのですが、やはり小田さんでしたか。
とても懐かしくて、私も驚きましたし、嬉しかったです。
これを機に、今後良い関係を築いていけたら嬉しいです。」
■ 国境も時間も超えて「人はつながる」
Zoom越しの再会。
名前よりも先に、顔と空気感が心に残っていた──そんな経験は初めてかもしれません。
制度や手続きに追われる日々の中で、こうした“偶然の再会”があるからこそ、国際業務は面白いのだと思います。

Hello, I’m Koji Oda, a Certified Visa Specialist.
Working in the field of foreign human resources and international cooperation, I sometimes experience things that feel like scenes from a drama.
This is one of those moments—a surprising and meaningful reunion that reminded me why I do what I do.
■ A conversation at a Nepalese curry shop
I love curry. So much so that I often go out for it—and even make my own from scratch using spices. (One day, I’ll write about that.)
One afternoon, I visited a Nepalese curry shop with a colleague. While we were chatting about visa systems and foreign worker support, the Nepalese waiter suddenly spoke to us:
“Are you an administrative scrivener? You work with foreign workers, right? I know someone from a great sending organization—I’d love to introduce them to you.”
To my surprise, a few days later, I found myself in an online meeting with the contact he introduced.
■ “Wait… do I know this person?”
During our Zoom call, something about the person’s voice, expression, and energy felt oddly familiar.
And then, it hit me:
“No way… Could this be the same person I worked with nearly 20 years ago?”
Back then, I was working on a project involving foreign ships and had dealings with a commercial facility near the port. The front-desk staff at that time had been a foreign national—and now I realized, it was this very same person.
■ The message I sent after our call
Overwhelmed by nostalgia, I sent this LINE message right after the meeting:
“Thank you again for today!
I had this strange feeling while we were talking—and I’m sure you’re the person I worked with all those years ago.
It brought back so many memories, and I was honestly moved.
I never imagined we’d reconnect like this after nearly 20 years.
I’d love to work together in some way again.”
■ And their reply
“Thank you for taking the time today.
I was thinking the same—you seemed familiar. I’m so glad it really was you!
I feel very nostalgic, and I hope this marks the beginning of a great collaboration.”
■ People connect—across borders, and across time
Seeing someone’s face brought back memories faster than their name ever could.
Moments like this are what make international work so fulfilling—even amid paperwork and procedure.
■ Final thoughts
The name “Be Bridge” reflects our mission: to connect people, communities, and the world.
This experience reminded me that the ties we build can span decades—and still hold the power to lead to new beginnings.
